Heat treatment and special finishes in Tijuana

In-house hardening and tempering, plus a finishing network coordinated inside the same lead time as the part.

The part ships finished

A machined part is rarely ready the moment it leaves the machine. It still needs hardness, corrosion protection, an identification color or a finish that lets it slide without wearing. Instead of handing you a bare part so you can chase a third party, we coordinate the full process: hardening is done in house and coatings are managed within the same committed lead time.

Heat treatment

In-house hardening and tempering for tool and alloy steels. We define the target hardness by the part's function — harder is not always better — and we control tempering to avoid brittleness in elements that take impact.

Coatings and protection

Hard and color anodizing for aluminum, black oxide for tool steel, nickel and chrome where wear meets corrosion, zinc plating for fasteners and passivation for stainless after welding or machining.

Cosmetic and identification finishes

Powder coating in whatever color your plant uses to identify equipment, polishing for sanitary surfaces, satin finishes to cut glare, and laser engraving to mark the part number permanently.

Operation order changes the outcome

A badly sequenced finish ruins a correct part. Hardening distorts, so tight-tolerance parts are rough machined, hardened and then ground, never the other way around. Anodizing and nickel add thickness, so the dimension is deliberately left under so it measures right once finished. Stainless passivation goes after welding and machining, not before, because both processes expose free iron at the surface. When we quote a part with a finish, that sequence is already defined, and that is why the lead time we give you is the real one.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does the coating change the part's dimension?

It does, which is why it is accounted for at the machining stage. Hard anodizing and nickel add thickness; we leave the planned allowance so the part measures correctly once finished, not before.

How much does finishing add to the lead time?

We state it in the quote, because it depends on the process. Generally hardening does not move the date and external coatings add two to four business days.
